Rebel without a cause

Since it was raining sideways more or less the entire day last time we rented scooters, we decided to invite out new friends out for another racing day. Believe it or not, but they were both very willing to let us drive them around the middle of Chiang Mai. Luckily for them we turned out to be very good at Thai rush traffic.

The main target of they day was really just to find somewhere nice to go swimming and this turned out to be easier said than done. Also very strange, cause we probably don't have to tell you about how hot it gets her in the middle of the day

First out, we tried the closest national park. It looked very promising until we saw this sign.

Everything was apparently forbidden there, but still it was worth a try. We walked towards the sound of water, thinking, where there is water there is swimming, but once again our theory was off

"ooh listen, more water, new chance"

Just another waterfall

Our only conclution at this point was that local people probably haven heard about swimming before. If they had, that would have been the most popular activity around, and so far we haven't seen a single local in water. Maybe its like "sit down toilets", they just haven't gotten that far.

On the road again

After a bit of research and a lot of endlessly driving around, we were told about a place just outside the city that was mostly used as a holiday resort for the locals (ha, another theory fail?) We headed out there, and as so many times before we could not believe our eyes when we got there

Such a beautiful little place, built up around a small lake at the foot of the mountain. Along the water there was 50-60 bamboo huts, and they all belonged to small restaurants. Picknic huts would be the correct term, cause when you had ordered everything they would bring it over in picnic baskets and you would do with it as you pleased

Later that day we once again ended up at the local mall, and all of a sudden it hit us: we hadn't have a proper ice-cream since Delhi! We found a place that even had a que outside, and figured that this had to be "the place"

And thank god! For once we were spot on

We ate until we were about to explode, but man, it was so worth it! After living on rice and noodles this long, you learn how to really appreciate good ice-cream!

In the same shopping mall we found a massive sports shop, and since we already royally messed up our budget, we figured we would go do some shopping. Lina managed to convince herself she needed a new backpack (stupid), and Ranveig was very determent that she deserved a trofee
